Visual Schedules: A Free Back to School Printables for Teachers and SLPs
We have all heard the dreaded question: “What are we going to do today?” If your students love to ask this question, then try using a visual schedule. We all thrive when we have a sense of structure and organization in our lives. Younger kids especially can benefit from having a detailed visual schedule to keep them on target.
What are the benefits of a visual schedule? A visual schedule can
- reduce concerns and worries.
- promote independence
- improve self-regulation.
- facilitate transitions.
- improve sequencing.
How can you prep these colorful visual schedules:
First, edit the Canva template and include any other activities you use during school time. Then, download the visual schedule as a PDF. Last, cut out the pictures and place a fastener on the back. Attach the pictures to the visual schedule and you're all set!
It’s super easy to get started! You can even make the schedule more personal by adding the child's name. If your student has a hard time with transitions, then give the schedule to the classroom teacher to use throughout the day.
