Why Do We Need Winter Themed Therapy?
Themed activities are an important part of speech therapy for many reasons:
Winter Themes Keep Students Interested
When students are interested in the topic, they are more likely to participate in the activity and to learn the material.
For example, the SLP might create a winter wonderland sensory bin filled with snow, ice, and other winter-themed objects.
Check out this blog post by The Dabbling Speechie for more Winter Sensory Bin Ideas for SLPs.
This is a great activity that is engaging for students and would help them learn about winter vocabulary and concepts.
Winter-Themed Worksheets Reinforce Learning
When students see the same concepts and vocabulary in multiple contexts, they are more likely to remember them.
For example, use a winter-themed storybook to teach students about winter vocabulary. The therapist could then have students act out the story, which would help them save the words to their word bank.
Vocabulary Words for Winter
Students can learn new words related to winter time, such as snow, ice, sledding, blizzard, snowflake, icicles, frost, and winter wonderland.
These words can be introduced through a variety of activities, such as reading books, playing games, or watching videos. Students can also be encouraged to use these words in their writing and conversation.
Overall, winter themed activities can be a valuable tool for speech therapists. They can help to engage students, reinforce learning, create a positive learning environment, and social skills.
Winter Writing Prompt Activities:
There are so many different types of winter writing worksheet sets available. Some common types include:
Descriptive writing worksheets:

Winter Activities and Real-Life Experiences
Seasonal activities can help children make connections between their real-life experiences and the words they are learning.
For example, when a child plays in the snow, they are learning about ways to describe snow, such as “white,” “cold,” and “fluffy.”
When a child builds a snowman, they are also learning about the words that describe a snowman, such as “head,” “body,” and “arms.”
When SLPs adapt activities to meet the individual needs of their students, this helps them understand and use language in a meaningful way.
Keep reading so you can incorporate your students’ learning style with your Canva winter-themed worksheet.
Winter Sensory Activities
Winter is a time for fun and creativity, and there are so many ways to incorporate sensory experiences into winter themed writing activities.

Here are some suggestions for meeting your students’ sensory needs:
